Welcome to my Blog :D

Good morning all and welcome to my blog! Today is the first day of my adventure, that's right in just a few short hours I will be on a plane to Spain for my summer teaching internship! I am excited for this amazing opportunity and to be able to share it all with you lovely people. Hopefully this little red doesn't run into too many wolves on her adventure ;)

So for the next five weeks I will be in Granada, Spain (pictured below) helping to teach English to the secondary students in a local school.  The school system is set up differently in Spain than here in America, the students graduate high school at 16 instead of 18.  The following two years students can go into a trade, become an intern, or go to college, if they do choose college then after those two years they will be given the opportunity to go to a university.  This set up slightly mirrors the option that students have here to start off at a junior or county college before going on to a four year.

As all of you can imagine I am super excited for this trip, and not just because I am going to Spain (though that IS one of the most exciting parts).  As a student at Stockton University I am Literature as a Secondary Certification major with a Spanish minor.  This means I am studying Literature as well as Education so that I can be the best high school English teacher possible (which is my end goal).  I also want to gain an English as a Second Language (ESL) certification afterwards. By helping the secondary students in Spain learn English I am getting my foot in the door to become a better teacher and to be able to help more students.  With a minor in Spanish I feel that going to a Spanish speaking country is the best way to better learn the language as well as become accustomed to their culture.  That being said, it's no surprise that I applied for this internship and it can help me in so many ways as I continue on my path.  Hopefully I am as helpful to the students as this program will be for me!

That is all for now, thank you all for joining me and I look forward to keeping everyone updated as my adventure continues!

Salud!
Little Red

P.S. I wanted to give a special thank you to my friend Sam for helping me pick out a blog name and setting this all up! Thanks sweetie!!
